Conditions We Treat

Chronic pain we can target with the MagPro R30

Peripheral magnetic stimulation works best for chronic pain that has plateaued on standard medication or physical therapy. We screen carefully and only recommend treatment when the evidence supports it for your specific pain pattern.

Chronic Low Back Pain

Persistent lumbar pain that has not responded fully to physical therapy, NSAIDs, or epidurals. Magnetic stimulation targets the local nerve and muscle pathways without opioids or needles.

Neck & Shoulder Pain

Mechanical and myofascial pain in the cervical and trapezius regions. Common for desk-bound workers, drivers, and post-injury patients.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Nerve pain, burning, tingling, or numbness in the hands or feet — often related to diabetes, chemotherapy, or surgical recovery.

Post-Surgical Pain

Persistent pain after orthopedic, abdominal, or thoracic surgery once the acute healing window has closed but pain has not resolved.

Sciatica & Radicular Pain

Pain radiating down the leg from lumbar nerve compression or irritation. Magnetic stimulation targets the affected nerve pathway non-invasively.

Fibromyalgia-pattern Pain

Widespread musculoskeletal pain with tender points. We treat by targeting the central sensitization pathways alongside referrals for sleep and mood care.

Migraine & Tension Headache

Chronic and treatment-resistant headache patterns where medication management alone has not been enough.

Pelvic & Hip Pain

Chronic regional pain syndromes in the pelvic and hip region — including post-partum, post-surgical, and unexplained chronic pelvic pain.

How It Works

Focused magnetic pulses, delivered through the body's own pathways

The MagVenture MagPro R30 sends precisely-shaped magnetic pulses through a coil positioned over the painful region. Those pulses pass painlessly through skin and tissue and directly stimulate the peripheral nerves and muscle pathways involved in your pain pattern.

Over a course of treatment, this repeated stimulation helps reset abnormal pain signaling, reduce muscle guarding, and improve local blood flow. You feel a strong, focused tapping during each pulse — it is not painful, and you stay fully awake. Sessions last 20-30 minutes, and you can drive, work, and live your day immediately after.

MagPro R30

MagVenture
platform

Why MagVenture

One platform, two clinical workhorses

We chose the MagVenture MagPro R30 as the only magnetic stimulation platform in our clinic for three reasons:

  1. 1

It is one of the best-studied magnetic stimulation systems in the world.

MagVenture is a Danish manufacturer with decades of published clinical research behind their devices, including the FDA-cleared protocols we use for depression.

  2. 2

It does both depression and peripheral pain on the same platform.

Many patients live with both — chronic back pain plus depression, fibromyalgia plus anxiety, post-surgical pain plus PTSD. The MagPro R30 lets us coordinate both treatments without sending you to a second clinic.

  3. 3

It is built for clinical reliability.

Magnetic stimulation only works if the device delivers consistent, precisely-shaped pulses session after session. The MagPro R30 is built for thousands of treatment sessions without drift — which is the only way a course of pain therapy actually works.

Cost & Coverage

Transparent pricing. Honest insurance answers.

Peripheral magnetic stimulation for pain is newer than TMS for depression in the insurance world, so we never quote you a final number before we have verified your benefits. We tell you what your plan covers, what your share of cost looks like, and what cash-pay options are available — before you book.

Frequently Asked

Pain management questions, answered straight

What exactly is MagVenture pain management?+

It is peripheral magnetic stimulation delivered through the MagVenture MagPro R30 system. The device generates focused magnetic pulses that pass through skin and tissue painlessly to stimulate the peripheral nerves and muscle pathways involved in chronic pain. There is no incision, no needle, and no medication.

How is this different from TMS for depression?+

We use the same MagVenture MagPro R30 console for both — that is part of why we chose it — but with a different coil and treatment protocol designed for peripheral targets instead of the brain. For depression we use a figure-8 coil at the prefrontal cortex. For pain we use a coil designed for peripheral nerve and muscle targets at the area of pain.

Will this work for my type of pain?+

We screen carefully before recommending treatment. Magnetic stimulation has the strongest evidence for chronic musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, and post-surgical pain that has plateaued. If your pain is acute, post-injury within the first 6 weeks, or driven by a structural problem that needs surgical input, we will tell you and refer.

How long is a session, and how many do I need?+

Sessions are 20-30 minutes, similar in length to a TMS depression visit. A typical course is 2-3 sessions per week for 4-6 weeks, then a maintenance schedule based on your response. Most patients describe a gradual reduction in pain intensity and a longer pain-free interval between flare-ups.

Is it painful?+

Most patients describe a strong tapping or knocking sensation on the skin during the pulses. It is not painful — it is a deep, focused vibration. You stay fully awake and can return to work, drive, and resume normal activity immediately after the session.

Does insurance cover this?+

Coverage varies by plan. Peripheral magnetic stimulation for pain is newer than TMS for depression in the insurance world, so we verify your benefits in advance and walk you through any out-of-pocket cost before you commit. We also offer a transparent cash-pay rate.

Why MagVenture specifically?+

We chose the MagVenture MagPro R30 because it is one of the best-studied magnetic stimulation platforms in the world, supports the precise protocols required for both depression and peripheral pain work, and is built for clinical reliability over many thousands of sessions. We do not use generic or budget-tier stimulators.
